In a word - sustainability. The environmental impact of making pottery is not negligible: we draw our raw materials straight from the earth, we fire our kilns using wood, gas or electricity all of which contributes to carbon emissions and potentially to other forms of environmental degradation.

The other side of the story is that the ceramics we create are durable and unique - pieces made to last. They contribute to a thoughtful, conscious economy of consumption in which we mindfully curate the objects we allow into our spaces and into our day to day rituals.

By working on a pre-order basis I am able to make sure that the pots I put out into the world are already wanted. I am not creating excess “stock” to clutter the shelves of my pottery studio while they wait to be bought.

In turn, this means I am able to maximise the natural resources I use, while minimising waste at all stages of the making process.

All the items listed on this page are available for pre-order. What this means in practice is that once you’ve placed your order I will get started as soon as I can to make those pieces specifically for you.

I’ve designed the listings to allow you as much flexibility as possible to mix and match clays and glazes and create the bespoke pieces or sets to best suit your needs.

It takes a minimum of 2 weeks (if the stars align) to take a piece of clay all the way to the completion of a finished ceramic object. I tell you all about the process here.

I work in batches on a first come, first served basis to maximise efficiency and resources (and minimise waste) in the studio. Currently, the average time frame for the completion of pre-orders is 4-6 weeks.
