Hand-building 101 ~ with Laura
Who is it for?
This multi-week course is suitable for anyone from true beginners to those who already have experience working with clay.
With a focus on core hand-building techniques, such as pinching, coiling and slab-building, these classes will give you the skills and confidence to make anything from simple, functional objects to more freeform sculptural works.
The classes are held in a serene and intimate setting in small groups no larger than four-six persons, ensuring that you will get all the tuition and support you need throughout the sessions.
Before the course begins we will ask you to create and share a Pinterest board full of objects which inspire you so that we can structure the course to ensure that you have the opportunity to create objects you will love to keep.
The sessions are structured to introduce you to the foundational skills you need to progressively create a project/object/series of objects out of clay and take them through to completion.
What's included?
A total of 12 hours of tuition (divided into 4 x 3 hour classes).
All materials are included in the cost of your course (including high-quality stoneware clay and a selection of studio glazes). The cost for firing your work in the kiln is also included in your course fee.
All prices also include 24% VAT.
What do I need to bring?
Just yourself. Everything you need will be provided at the studio. If you have a favourite apron or tools, please feel free to bring them along.
Even though you’ll be wearing an apron, you will get muddy so please choose your clothes and shoes accordingly.
