Explore - Pottery Wheel Taster Class (Beginner)
Who is this for?
For those who have always dreamed of trying the pottery wheel but aren’t quite sure if its for them. A great place to start if you’d like to give it a try without committing to a full course.
I have two pottery wheels and am able to accommodate groups of up to four people for Taster Sessions.
How long is the pottery class?
These 1.5 hour sessions are a relaxed introduction to working with clay on the pottery wheel. We’ll start with a demo so that you can get a sense of the basics of what you will be doing. Then it will be your turn to get your hands muddy!
Depending on the size of the group the class might run a little longer (up to 2 hours) to allow enough time for everyone to enjoy their time at the pottery wheel without feeling rushed.
Where and when are the classes held?
The classes take place in my calm, sunny pottery studio in the heart of Athens. If you are only visiting the city for a short time please reach out in advance so that we can schedule a time to best suit your travel and sightseeing plans.
If you are based in Athens, your session will typically take place on a Saturday morning (11-12.30 am), although there is some flexibility if this does not suit your needs.
If I make something I love, can I keep it?
Absolutely! Pottery is a multi-step process which takes time and patience. Throwing the form on the wheel is only the first step. So if you choose to keep the pot you throw during your Taster Session, we will finish it for you for a small extra charge (€15/piece) to cover the raw materials and our time as we trim, glaze and fire your piece.
We use only high-quality stoneware clays in the studio and all our glazes are developed and made in-house, guaranteeing that the piece you make will be durable and safe to use for years to come.
If you are not Athens-based your pot will be shipped to you once ready (typically at a cost of between €15-25 depending on the size of the piece). We only charge you what it costs us to send the piece so you won’t pay anything until it is ready to dispatch and we have had a chance to pack up and weigh the parcel.
